smitten. how can you not love something that blooms in january? this is ‘arnold promise’ witch hazel a.k.a hamamelis x intermedia ‘arnold promise’. you’ll also find it showing off in the fall when it’s leaves turn all glorious. give this large shrub/small tree space to reach its 15’ x 15’ potential and you will be rewarded with beautiful horizontal branching.
i call it a ‘hula hoe’. you can get a certain sway going when you’re using it, but i’ve never tried it in a grass skirt. if i can manage a leisurely stroll around my garden with this in hand once a week, i can keep the weed population to nearly nill. leaving me free to eat pineapple, take surfing lessons & lay about in the hammok.
